Darwin and the Rural Area
The Darwin-based group Don’t Frack the Territory started after a public meeting on 20 February 2013, which attracted over 100 concerned residents.
A key outcome of the meeting was the establishment of our community shale gas campaign. We also started a petition calling for an independent inquiry and a moratorium.
Since then, the community campaign has gone from strength to strength. We have worked together to get fracking applications over Darwin and the Rural area removed and have built connections right across the Territory.
If you live in Darwin, find out about the next meet up and upcoming events by heading to our Facebook page Don’t Frack the Territory.
We are working together to keep up the pressure in Darwin to help protect the communities living and working across rural and remote NT who are still under threat from industrial fracking gasfields.

Darwin Rural Area Meet Ups
There is a fantastic team of people living and working across the Rural Area that are working to protect the Territory from fracking gasfields. One of our key projects is working to get the fracking exploration applications from Fogg Dam to Kakadu National Park refused by the NT Government. See the below map for more information.
