Get involved this May

There has never been a better time to take the leap and join in the fantastic people across the Territory who are taking action to protect our water, our land and our communities from shale gas fracking. We’ve had record numbers turn up to street marches, run community stalls, door knock with their neighbours and meet with their local member of Parliament. Thank you everyone!

With both a Federal and a Territory election on the way, it’s a great time to be getting together and speaking up about the issues we care about, while political candidates wanting to gain our votes are listening in.

Here are some ways you can get involved to protect the Territory from Fracking in the month of May.

Saturday and Sunday 14 and 15 May
Come and say hi and learn more at our Frack Free stall at Fred’s Pass Rural Show, site 206. Check out our giant barra and sign the petitions targeted at elected members of Parliament to ensure your voice is counted.

Tuesday 17 May
Join us at 11am to present our #water4life16 election campaign asks to Member for Solomon Natasha Griggs at her office, Unit 3/266 Trower Road Casuarina.

Or meet us in town on your lunch break at 12:30pm Tuesday 17 May at Raintree Park at the Smith St Mall to present the platform to Federal Labor Candidate Luke Gossling and Labor Senator Nova Peris.

Please RSVP to Naomi: 0401 650 411

Tuesday 24 May, 8am to 9am
Join the local community breakfast at the Katherine regional mining and exploration forum at Godinymayin Cultural Centre, Stuart Highway.
Pipeline company Jemena, gas lobby group APPEA and Glencore’s toxic McArthur River Mine reps will all be there to see us as they arrive. Let’s ensure they can’t miss our message that water and healthy communities are more important and useful in the long term.
